H3riQ (pronounced “He-rick”) is a rising neo-soul artist known for his unique blend of soulful melodies and R&B.

Born and raised in Deïdo (Douala, Cameroon), H3riQ developed a passion for music at an early age. His first steps as an artist were in rap music before he discovered his ability to sing. He trained as a sound engineer in order to improve the quality of his work and to be able to self-produce.

H3riQ’s music is heavily influenced by neo soul, blues, R&B, funk, and pop music. His lyrics are often introspective, weaving together themes of love, relationships, and self-discovery with his soulful, emotive vocals. His music draws from a diverse range of musical influences, including icons of Rnb and the Neo Soul movement such as Musiq Soulchild, Usher, D’Angelo or Erykah Badu.

In 2020, he shared a series of demos under the name “NeoSoulMakossa”, a style in which he is gradually becoming known thanks to an original fusion between his own cultural influences, the use of the Duala language and elements of Rnb, Hip Hop, jazz, Funk…

Besides his musical career, H3riQ is also an advocate for the culture and revitalization of the Duala language. He uses his platform to raise awareness of the importance of promoting and transmitting vernacular languages to young people.
